DETOXIFYING YOUR HOME

Did you know the average house may contain as many as 400 chemicals, some of them toxic, many untested, according to a 2009 study in the journal Environmental Science & Technology. More and more serious diseases and conditions are being linked to environmental toxins, such as reproductive disorders and autoimmune diseases. The sad reality is that we can’t ignore our toxic environment. We have to be proactive in detoxing our homes.

Up until recently, I was careful of the food I put into my body, staying away from conventional produce and purchasing organic to avoid pesticides, and purchasing grass-fed beef as well. I never really considered that not only can eating the wrong foods make us sick but so can a toxic home. This realization came to while sitting on my couch while my husband lit up an incense stick. I immediately got a migraine from the toxins released. I have since started detoxifying our home.

Here are several things you can to remove toxins from your home:

Use Natural, Green Cleaning products. One of my all-time favorites is Sol-U-Guard Botanical .Kills 99.9% of household germs using the ingredients thyme oil and citric acid. Sol-U-Guard Disinfectant is approved by EPA for use against coronavirus when used as directed.

Open window fresh air

Open your windows often, recycling the air is so important.

Pura Home Fragrance Device

Avoid Harsh Chemicals in Commercial Air Fresheners and candles. We recently switched to Pura, all their products are formulated without these harsh chemicals: No parabens, no phthalates, no mineral oil, no dichlorobenzene, no DEA, no petroleum, no propylene, no formaldehyde. Also vegan, non-gmo, cruelty-free and pet friendly. Pura is also a smart device, you can control the intensity of the air freshener right from your mobile phone.

Keep Shoes out! Have everyone slip off their shoes and leave them by the door. Most dirt, pesticides, and germs come in on the bottom of your shoes, so you'll keep a lot of contaminants out of your home if your shoes never walk in.

green plants

Use Green Plants as Natural Detoxifiers. Houseplants have a natural ability to clean air, removing pollutants, such as formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene and carbon monoxide. Breath easier by adding plants that will improve the air quality of your home. NASA recommends two or three plants in 8 to 10-inch pots for every 100 square feet. Some plants are better at removing certain chemicals than others.
Plants that are known to filter the air are Bamboo plants, English Ivy, Chinese Evergreen, Pease Lilies, and Areca palms to name a few.
